A local vegan burger startup is capitalizing on exposure from ABC’s “Shark Tank” and scoring an investment from Mark Cuban earlier this year, already locking in deals to push it toward $10 million revenue this year.

Everything Legendary, a 2-year-old Prince George’s County plant-based meat company, is set to debut its vegan-cheese-stuffed patty this Saturday in 310 Target locations across 13 states. Specifically, the stores will sell two-packs of the company’s eight-ounce patties for $6.99 and its 12-ounce burgers for $9.99.

Initially, Target will sell the burgers in stores where the brand already has a strong presence, such as the D.C. area, Southern California, the Chicago region and New York City, founder and CEO Duane “Myko” Cheers said in an email Monday. “After we are successful in these areas, we hope to expand to all Target stores.”

The deal with Target builds on the Hyattsville company’s existing presence in 500 grocery stores, from Safeway and Giant to Acme and Stop & Shop, plus its online sales. Both sales channels have brought “an amazing spike in sales” since “Shark Tank” featured Everything Legendary’s pitch on a Feb. 26 episode, Cheers said.

The business has raked in $1.5 million in revenue over the last 90 days alone. And Target, which represents the startup’s largest retailer to date, stands to help grow revenue this year; the company is still on track to exceed $10 million in revenue for 2021, Cheers said.

Working with Cuban — who invested $300,000 for 22% of the business — has also been a growth driver, Cheers said. “Mark is amazing to work with. His energy is so great. I feel like he gets us and he moves at the same pace that we do. He and his team have given us great advice and strategic planning that is helping us succeed.”

The five-person company has more on the burner for 2021, including rolling out new products that, Cheers said, “are top secret at this time.” Everything Legendary is also expanding further into food service wholesale and hopes to bring on 1,000 new restaurants this year, he said.

The company is not currently hiring, nor is it actively fundraising. “However,” Cheers said, “we are open to talk to parties that may be interested.”

Everything Legendary is among a growing list of local “Shark Tank” alumni, including a handful who have scored deals within the last year and others continuing to reap the benefits. That group includes Alexandria’s GoOats, D.C.’s Soupergirl and Ashburn’s GloveStix, all 2021 Startups to Watch; Potomac’s CertifiKid, which we’ve followed through the pandemic; other food-focused companies such as District-based Snacklins and Tysons-based TaDah Foods; and more. Here’s a look at that network.
