D.C.'s tech scene is booming, and so are its salaries, according to a new report by careers site Hired.com.

Average salaries for tech workers in the metro area, which includes engineers, product managers, data scientists, product designers and more, increased to $123,000 in 2018. That’s up 6% from 2017, when the average was $116,000, and way up from 2016, when the average was $109,000.

That puts D.C. in sixth place. San Francisco led with $145,000, followed by Seattle ($138,000), New York ($133,000), Boston ($127,000) and Austin ($125,000).

While the rising wages are good news for tech workers, there’s still a major disparity in how much women are paid, the report shows.

It says that 60% of the time, men are offered higher salaries for the same jobs at the same companies. And, on average, women are offered 3% less pay than men for the same roles. Meanwhile, when looking at similar roles, women are offered 6% less.

The report said:

  • 31% of tech workers consider the flexibility to work remotely as one of the most important factors when job searching.
  • 59% of candidates have taken a recruiter call because the company has showcased benefits and perks.
  • 87% of tech workers would leave their job for another one with a higher base salary.
