Tuesday marks the culmination of the summer cohort for Startups Ignite, with a pitch night at WeWork Apollo starting at 5 p.m. The event, free to attend, will feature six startups from its Accelerate24 program.
Accelerate24 provides "innovation experiments" and rapid market testing over 90 days. The nine participating startups in the summer cohort were chosen from a pool of 150 applicants. Some Startups Ignite founders receive nine months of venture support after graduating.
Here are the six presenting companies:
Blackbook, based in D.C., provides an platform that decreases wait times and simplifies ordering for restaurants and bars.
Gravatate, based in Reston, Va., runs an private network for intercompany and intracompany communications.
OffWeGo, based in Alexandria, Va., provides a platform that wholesales and streamlines student group travel.
Skoolar, based in Fairfax, Va., runs a platform for college students to build a profile and a reputation for employers.
Healith, based in D.C., helps mature pregnant mothers to get information, healthcare details, and connect.
CreativeDate, based in Baltimore, makes a platform for individuals planning an outing to find the destinations based on criteria they select.
Catzenpup, IWriteRemotely and TeaTime Beauty are not participating in Tuesday's event.
Startups Ignite was founded in 2015 by Amu Fowler and is based in Tysons, Va. It has put more than 75 startups through its three programs, according to its website, and has 77 mentors in its network.
Applications are open for the next Accelerate24 program, which is looking for full-time founders to join its accelerator cohort starting Jan. 15.
