Fresh Faces: The Biggest DC Tech Hires You Should Know from August

D.C. may get quiet in August, but that doesn't mean desks aren't being filled around the local tech community. We rounded up some of the biggest names that switched companies or got promoted and ordered new business cards last month.

Steven Rose – Lease Accelerator

Steven Rose joined Reston-based software startup Lease Accelerator as its new head of international. Rose brings over 30 years of experience leading growth strategies for technology firms in Europe and Asia Pacific. Based in the United Kingdom, he previously worked at software companies including Veritas Software, Commvault Systems and Informatica. This year, Rose will lead the company's expansion throughout Europe by building a team of experts in lease accounting, real estate management and asset finance.

Paul Brigner – Chamber of Digital Commerce

The Chamber of Digital Commerce, a D.C.-based blockchain trade association, announced the hire of Paul Brigner as director of technology policy. He will lead several working groups at the Chamber, including the Smart Contracts Alliance, Blockchain Intellectual Property Council and the Digital Assets Accounting Consortium. Brigner was previously at Georgetown University where he served as managing director of the Blockchain Technology and Ecosystem Design Research Center.

It also announced the promotion of Amy Davine Kim to the role of chief policy officer, where she will oversee and drive the Chamber’s global policy efforts for the blockchain industry. Davine Kim joined the Chamber in August 2017 and helped deliver a number of achievements, including the publication of industry guidelines for digital tokens and initial coin offerings.

Jonathan Amar – remodelmate

Residential real estate tech company remodelmate announced the hiring of public relations and marketing expert Jonathan Amar as the company’s head of growth. He will direct all external communications, marketing, partnerships, and customer and contractor acquisition, as well as oversee the development of remodelmate’s forthcoming technology platform, which is set to launch in early 2019. Amar was previously a director in strategic communications firm Levick’s corporate practice group.

Elizabeth Owens Bille – EverFi

Edtech company EverFi hired attorney Elizabeth Owens Bille as its senior director of prevention education. Bille was formerly general counsel at the Alexandria-based Society for Human Resources Management. She will serve as the company's lead expert on workplace harassment and discrimination prevention, education and training.

Gary Gagnon – Mitre

Former Amazon Inc. executive Gary Gagnon was named cyber strategy VP and chief security officer for McLean-based Mitre, which operates federal research and development centers. Gagnon worked at Mitre for 30 years in cyber and intelligence leadership roles. He joined Amazon as chief information security officer in January 2017 and left in November of that year. Read more here.

Tim Reardon – Constellis

Reston-based law enforcement training company Constellis signed on former Leidos executive Tim Reardon to be its new CEO. Reardon joined Leidos in 2016 through its merger with Lockheed Martin's information systems business, where he held several executive positions. He is replacing Constellis founder Jason DeYonker, who is retiring and who held the chief executive title since October 2015.
