Every year we get to reflect on the DMV area’s economic momentum through the lens of the Inc. 5000 list, which ranks the country’s fastest-growing private companies. It’s no surprise that hundreds of firms around the region found a spot in the rankings, but a handful from all three states made bigger marks than most.

The companies on this year’s list altogether amassed $206 billion in revenue in 2017, up 158 percent from $80 billion in 2014. The leader this time around was SwanLeap, a logistics software company founded in 2013 that had revenue growth of 75,661 percent over the past three years. Woah.
