Last night we hosted our State of Innovation: Started from the Bottom to Now We’re Here meetup. We had a great crowd of over 100 even with the dreary weather. Thank you to our amazing partner WeWork Dupont Circle for hosting us in their killer event space.
The night was centered around a panel discussion about scaling startup companies. Moderated by Shahier Rahman, of General Assembly, and the panel featured: Michael Avon, Founder and CEO, ICX Media, WeWork member Andrea Fletcher, Lead Data Strategist, Cooper/Smith, Dan Berger, Founder and CEO, Social Tables, Craig Zingerline, Director of Growth, Upside Travel and Swamy Ramaswamy, Founder and CTO, Sandboxx. We heard their stories about growing startups in D.C., pitching to investors, how they climbed to the top, including failures along the way and their advice to other startups wanting to launch and grow in the District. We also heard short pitches from SilverStrategy, Mission Collaborative, Wingate Hughes and WeWork Labs about their resources available to growing startups in the area.
