Since 2005, Mobile Posse has been quietly, but quickly, growing its footprint in the D.C. tech scene. Now, CEO Jon Jackson is looking to keep the company's momentum going with both a new C-suite hire and a headquarters expansion in Arlington, Virginia.

The idea behind Mobile Posse is pretty simple to understand: how can clients best utilize a mobile device's lockscreen push notifications? The software is also customizable based on a user’s interests. Think of it like Google Alerts' email notifications, but without the need to manually set them up.

Steve Drill is joining the company as its chief technology officer, replacing Naveen Singhal who had been in the role for two years, per his LinkedIn profile. Drill has been in the engineering space for more than 30 years, and he got his start teaching himself the ins and outs of software development while at Johns Hopkins University. Most recently, he was at Resonate in Reston, Virginia, as the company's VP of engineering and at Microsoft as a principal engineering manager.

"As wireless carriers look to take back revenue from giants like Facebook and Google, Mobile Posse’s cutting-edge solutions not only provide more significant revenue opportunities, but also better understand consumers; content consumption as they move along the mobile journey," Drill said in a statement. "I look forward to being part of a company that constantly pushes the industry forward."

Jackson expects for Mobile Posse to grow the company's employee base by 40 percent in the next year. To meet that growth, the company is expanding its office space at One Ballston Plaza to 18,000 square feet — triple the size of the office the team moved into in October 2016.

The new location in the building will have an open floor plan, much like in its former office, and room for new hires on the product, engineering, data science and quality assurance teams.

"One Ballston Plaza and the surrounding area have provided a great home for Mobile Posse, and we wanted to grow and invest in this community as we continue to expand our business and employee base," Jackson said in a statement.
