1776

One of 1776's first employees has left the company as of Aug. 8. Product director Kate Nolan is no longer with 1776, and she has since joined GoKart Labs' D.C. team as its solutions lead. Nolan first joined 1776 as a community manager in May 2013. GoKart Labs arrived in D.C. in November 2016 after the success of its innovation lab and incubator program in Minneapolis.

Another top-level player has also left 1776. According to a tweet posted on Aug. 21, 1776 New York manager Rachel Haot is no longer at the part-coworking space, part-incubator. It's not clear where she's heading next. Haot joined the company in January 2016 after a stint as the chief digital officer and deputy secretary for technology for New York state. Haot oversaw the operations at 1776's Brooklyn Navy Yard campus and also launched a few other initiatives at the campus.

1776's D.C. region director Noelle London left the company earlier in August for a new role in Atlanta's tech scene. London is now the Manager of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Invest Atlanta, where she will oversee some of the city's projects at Invest Atlanta and Atlanta's Economic Development Authority.

Monumental Sports

Monumental Sports has hired Grant Paranjape as its new Director of Esports Business and Team Operation. The company, owned by Ted Leonsis, made the announcement on Aug. 15.

Research Innovations

Alexandria, Va.-based Research Innovations has a new CEO. Jack Harrington was announced as the company's new leader on Aug. 11, succeeding founder Rich Briggs who will continue as the company's chief technology officer and board chairman. Harrington co-founded Virtual Technology Corporation with Briggs in 1994, and the duo later sold the company to Raytheon. Most recently, Harrington joins Research Innovations from a tenure as vice president of Cybersecurity and Special Missions, a Raytheon company. Research Innovations creates software for the federal government and military — including work with DARPA and the Army.

Atomicorp

Former Mach37 managing partner Rick Gordon has found a new gig. As of Aug. 15, Gordon is joining the board of Chantilly, Va.-based Atomicorp, a cybersecurity company running protection services for everything running on Linux on any device. Gordon was removed from the Mach37 team in early July after his unsuccessful bid to purchase the cybersecurity accelerator from its current owner, the Center for Innovative Technology.

As a part of her new role as a principal at the firm, Cuesta will be the first full-time team member based in NYC. She makes the move on Sept. 1.
