Time's running out.
Today, between 11 AM-3 PM, Uber riders can get free ice cream with their ride with the tap of a button. Here's how it works: When riders go to request a ride, they'll see an option to also receive a free cone for themselves and up to four friends. With the cone, the group will also receive a limited edition, collectible cone that can be used at participating McDonald's locations for one free soft serve every Friday from Aug. 11-Sept. 22.
Today's ice cream supply is limited, so not everyone will be matched and able to get ice cream or a collectible cone. Uber's promotion takes place in 10 markets including Washington, D.C., Boston, New York, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto. The company teamed up with ice cream distributor Scoops2u for today's promotion.
This isn't Uber's first year hosting a free ice cream promotion. According to a company press release, the ride-sharing company has delivered over 200,000 ice cream cones around the world since 2012.
Today's promotion comes on the heels of another blow to the company's top executives and board members. After co-founder Travis Kalanick was ousted as CEO in June, Uber investor Benchmark is now suing the entrepreneur for fraud and other transgressions as an attempt to remove him from the board of directors.
