Herndon, Va.-based Deltek, one of the biggest software and IT providers for government contractors, has been acquired for $2.8 billion by Florida tech firm Roper Technologies.
The deal, expected to be completed by the end of the year, won't change anything on the service according to the companies. Deltek will keep its name and 2,400 or so employees at its various offices. Deltek's software is used by more than 22,000 private and public agencies and companies, so minimal disruption is likely a good idea.
Deltek is owned the private equity firm Thoma Bravo, which bought the company for $1.1 billion in 2012. Deltek was only owned by the firm for four years, but Roper plans to make Deltek a part of its long-term strategy, according to the announcement. Roper is a very broad company, with software, engineering and consulting work in major industries like healthcare, energy, food and construction. Considering how well-connected Deltek is in both the federal and private spheres, it has a lot to offer Roper.
We've reached out to Deltek for comment and will update when we know more.
