Build A Snowman With Obama In This New Augmented Reality White House App

Today, The White House released a new app, 1600, that lets you virtually experience a year in the life of The White House just by scanning your one dollar bill.

So, in short, it turns out President Obama is as big a tech nerd as we all thought.

The app is pretty simple. Download it on iOS or Android, point it at George Washington on the one dollar bill and boom, the animated augmented reality sequence starts.

1600 only works on a dollar bill (I tried a $20 bill, and it refused to acknowledge it. Thanks, Obama), and it just gives you a video sequence from outside of The White House, taking you through the spring, summer, fall and winter festivities found on the lawn throughout the year. For example, in the spring, you'll see a group of kids on the lawn for the Easter Egg Roll.

This isn't Obama's first time using technology to make The White House more accessible. In 2012, The White House released a Google Street View tour of every public room at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

When using the new 1600 app, you aren't able to tour the inside of The White House like you are in Google Street View, but you do get to witness a helicopter landing on the South lawn, a press conference and Obama casually building a snowman.

Try it for yourself:
