The Top 9 DC Tech Hires In October

Invincea
  • Fairfax-based cybersecurity startup Invincea picked up Christopher Day as its new chief information security officer. Invincea, best known as the data security company that grew out of DARPA developed technology, hired Day away from Packet Forensics, where he was CTO.
Accenture
1776
  • Everfi's loss is 1776's gain. Dominique Taylor, Everfi's former senior VP of Talent and Culture, left to join the startup incubator. Her new role focuses on building out the Talent & Culture function at 1776, as well as working with startups around the world on talent and culture. Motionsoft
  • Rockville-based software firm Motionsoft hired Gaming Network Systems founder John Cramp as its new CEO. Motionsoft offers software for payment processing and other services to health and wellness firms. Cramp joins CTO Grant Otto as the second big hire for Motionsoft in the last few months.
New Markets Venture Partners
  • Fulton, Md.-based New Markets Venture Partners added Jason Palmer as a new general partner. Palmer, who was deputy director for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, joined less than a week after New Markets raised $30 million for its edtech focused fund.
Vidsys
  • RobertoMandanas left Virginia-based Internet of Things company Senseware to take the job of global director of strategic marketing at another Virginia company — security tech firm Vidsys. Vidsys offers "converged security," a combination of hardware and software platform for information security.
ByteCubed
  • Former Lockheed Martin executive Alexander Martinez is now CEO of tech firm ByteCubed, which works as a tech consultant for the federal government. A leader in Lockheed's cybersecurity work for the federal government, Martinez took up the CEO role as ByteCubed founder switches to the job of Chief Innovation Officer.
Crowdstrike
  • JerryDixon has left his role as American Express's Vice President of Cyber Threat Intelligence and Incident Response to join cybersecurity company CrowdStrike in the DC offices as their Chief Information Security Officer. In his new role, Dixon is responsible for the company's corporate information security risk management program.
Morningstar
  • Investment research giant Morningstar hired Mitch Shue as its new chief technology officer, based out of the company's D.C. office. Shue was the CTO at D.C. startup HelloWallet when it was acquired by Morningstar in 2014.
Bonus: DC Inno
