Here are all of the tech funding deals out of the Washington, D.C., area this week. We’ll be updating this post as more news comes out.

Thursday, November 5

Macat (Washington, D.C.)

  • Deal: $30M total raised, new $10M from previously disclosed $20M, announced by co.
  • Investors: unnamed group of angel investors
  • What they do: online education software that focuses on teaching, offering content and providing tools related to learning about social sciences and humanities
  • Other details: critical thinking skills teaching

Monday, November 2

Access Holdings (Baltimore, Md.)

  • Deal: raised $7.5M from a total $10M equity offering, according to an SEC filing
  • Investors: undisclosed
  • What they do: early stage-focused private investment firm
  • Other details: Founded in 2013 by Kevin McAllister. "The firm is operated by a team of seasoned investment, legal, accounting and financial professionals with extensive backgrounds in private equity, capital markets, securities law and accounting," the organization's website reads.

20/20 GeneSystems (Rockville, Md.)

  • Deal: in the process of raising a $4M equity round, according to an SEC filing 
  • Investors: undisclosed
  • What they do: a small biotech firm that specializes in cancer diagnostic products, specifically the analysis of proteins in tissue samples
  • Other details: have raised $9.3 million, to date, in private investments and an equivalent amount through numerous government grants/contracts
