Deal: $44 million venture round Investors: Revolution, SWaN & Legend Venture Partners and Invus Group What they do: fast-casual Mediterranean food Other details: The news follows an April announcement made by the rising health-oriented, greek food restaurant, commonly referenced as the “Mediterranean Chipotle,” that it had raised a $16 million round led by SWaN & Legend Venture Partners. The Leesburg, Va.-based VC firm is among the first investors to have bet on Cava Grill.
Tech 2000 (Herndon, Va.)
Deal: $3.3M raise, according to an SEC filing Investors: U.S. boston capital corporation What they do: part incubator, tech development and training company Other details: "core strengths include content development, mobility, dynamic education tools, and training delivery for IT such as Apple OS X and Pro Apps, Cisco certification, and Metro Ethernet and business skills."

- Deal: raised $2M from a $4M equity offering, according to an SEC filing
- Investors: undisclosed
- What they do: biotech
- Other details: the company develops a proteomics product line that offers drug companies, biodefense specialists and life scientists with tools to complete protein analysis

LifeMark Partners (Baltimore, Md.)
- Deal: opening of $50k raise but has yet to sell any equity, according to an SEC filing
- Investors: undisclosed
- What they do: an insurance distribution company that provides financial services and related products.
- Other Details: The company announced William J. Shelow would be its next CEO in March. He formerly served as the president of Irwin, Pa.-based Duncan Financial Group and CEO of Wealth Preservation and Management.
