Reid is back and lots of activity today so let's get going.
The Big One
Chris: Radius Networks has finally emerged from the shadows and we chatted CEO, Marc Wallace. Built by a team of former SwapDrive engineers and executives — which was acquired by Norton/Symantec in 2008 for $123 million — the startup recently closed a $6.5 million seed funding round led by Core Capital Partners, Contour Venture Partners and Wa.-based Trilogy Equity Partners, Wallace confirmed. The recent raise caps off a total of $8.4 million raised since 2012
2015 will be a transitional year for Radius Networks as it will push to become cash flow positive for the first time. Wallace declined to comment on larger, respective partners of the company but did say that roughly 90 of the top 100 Fortune 500 companies are already involved — also noting that one of the big two pharmacy franchises is currently a partner.
Reid: Been hearing about this team for a bit and glad to see the traction. Wallace is an interesting (and successful) guy, having started District Taco on top of his tech ventures. Good technology and a good team that have been keeping their head down.
Making Moves
Chris: KoVue, is a video focused social media startup led by Next Generation Broadband (NGB) CEO and chairman Martin Hannes. To date, the company has been funded by Hannes’s NGB and upper management partners to the tune of approximately $1.5M. But the KoVue CEO hopes to officially announce the closing of his team's first seed round in the coming weeks.
Chris: Disruption Corporation and Greenspring Associates are teaming up on the creation of the platform HubbleTM. The two firms have partnered to build a data analytics platform for Greenspring’s existing portfolio, prospective deals and the general state of the industry. The idea is that investors will be able to look into the ‘universe of venture opportunities’ and focus on specific interests.
Reid: Big week for 'predictive analytics' as we've covered what Fiscal Note is bringing to politics and now this deal for VC. Paul Singh and team have built out the engine for this (those who use their Hubble Stream get it), while Greenspring is bringing in it's database of more than 3,500 companies.
Goss
Reid: Working on confirming some tasty Goss. More to come next week.
