FiscalNote Closes $10M Series B Funding Led by 'China's Facebook,' Renren

Washington, D.C.-based financial data predictor and analytics aggregation system, FiscalNote, announced $10 million of Series B funding today. The publicly traded Chinese social network Renren led the deal and will be joining early investors Visionnaire Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Jerry Yang/AME Cloud Ventures, Steve Case and Mark Cuban.

“FiscalNote is the future of cutting-edge, open data engineering and analytics,” said Renren’s Chairman and CEO Joseph Chen via a FiscalNote blog post made Tuesday.“We are excited to partner with them as they rapidly expand into new markets.”

The funding round comes only three months after FiscalNote’s raised $7M in Series A funding during November.

“This will be a breakout year for FiscalNote,” Hwang added in the blog post,“while we did not need the capital, we decided to take advantage of the massive growth we’ve been seeing. We anticipate aggressively hiring top talent, developing and releasing new products, and taking steps toward new markets, both domestic and international.”

Named as one of CNN’s top ten startups of 2014, FiscalNote is know for its powerful legislative searching, tracking and forecasting product, Prophecy. The company will also introduce a regulatory product, Sonar, later this year, according to the post.
