D.C.-based startup Contactually has raised $2 million in seed funding. This new funding brings its total seed funding to $3.5 million including the $1.5 million raised last year. Contactually, which markets a lean, customizable CRM toolbox used to maximize the ROI of a network, brought in the extra money from a combination of current and new investors. Crystal Tech, Middleland Capital and Middlebridge Partners from the D.C. area joined a group including 500 Startups, Boston Seed Nine Capital in funding Contactually. AngelList syndicate entrepreneurs led by entrepreneur Gil Penchina contributed a large chunk of the new money.

"We saw Contactually as an explosively growing service that fills a clear customer need, and our syndicate wanted to work alongside the already strong and diverse group of investors," said Penchina in a statement.

Contactually's growth over the last 15 months paints a very clear picture as to why people are lining up to invest in it. Its 483 percent increase in revenue in that time has come with a expansion from 12-40 employees and with the new funding the company seems well-positioned for even more growth. The new money will fill out its engineering and sales teams to expand on who it can offer its services too and add new features to its platform. It's even moved to take over the office space in downtown D.C. that used to house LivingSocial to have enough space for the growing team.

"While it was difficult to find space in DC that both fit our company's culture and our requirement for a dogfriendly office, we knew we were committed to remaining within the District"

"While it was difficult to find space in DC that both fit our company's culture and our requirement for a dogfriendly office, we knew we were committed to remaining within the District," said Alexandra Gibson, Contactually's vice president of marketing. "Most of our team lives in DC and walks to work or takes public transit. We believe strongly in the tech community that is being built in our Nation's capital and are excited to be a part of that story."

Right now, Contactually has about 7,500 clients in 100 countries, helping them connect and engage with professionals for their mutual benefit. It combines all the different ways people may have connected digitally and helps organize them for better use, even reminding users about following up with contacts to build the relationships that will boost business.

"It’s amazing the amount of time and effort that people spend to expand their professional networks from attending conferences to educational endeavors to inbound leads," Contactually CEO Zvi Band said. "But very little thought is spent staying engaged with those people who may potentially either refer or do business with you in the future. Where Contactually fits is the grey area of lost opportunity in the sales cycle? the place where you can stay top of mind and build trust."
