Welcome to 2022 — and a fresh batch of D.C.-area startups we plan to keep a close eye on this year.

We at DC Inno and the Washington Business Journal are putting a lens on 10 promising businesses that stand to make big moves over the next 12 months. Some we’ve told you about before. Others will be completely new to you — but not anymore.

This group includes ventures as diverse as their founders, spanning sectors, stages and starting points. Each has the potential to make as big of an impact as the next. They’ve all reached pivotal periods in their journeys. They’ve set short-term goals toward ambitious aspirations. And they’re all taking steps to make those dreams reality, one day and dollar at a time.

Today, we get into those steps — how they got here, where they’re going and what we’ll be watching. But these startups symbolize a much bigger story we’ll also be following over the course of the year: the awesome growth transpiring throughout Greater Washington’s innovation ecosystem, and its many ingredients and players, big or small, mature or nascent, company or concept.

Each demonstrates what the region’s entrepreneurs can do. And many more are worthy of this recognition.

As to whether these 10 will overcome the inevitable hurdles, persevere and push to the next level? That’s for them to discover and us to track. For now, meet our startups to watch in 2022.
