After competing in three rounds, just two companies remain in the 2020 Tech Madness tournament. More than 900 votes were cast in the Semi Finals, bringing total votes from the tournament to just over 2,800.
phData received the most support, beating Structural 276 to 234. Prior to this round, Structural had been the most popular company in the tournament, receiving more votes than any other company in rounds one and two.
SalesReach entered the Semi Finals with gusto but ultimately lost out to agriculture startup Traive by 85 votes. So it's big data versus ag-tech in the championship.
Here's a little more info about the remaining competitors:
- phData: Founded in 2014, phData is a big data consulting and managed services firm. It has around 150 employees and is a three-time winner of a Biz Journal Best Places to Work award. The Minneapolis-based company last raised a round of funding in early 2018, snagging $2.5 million.
- Traive: St. Paul-based Traive is relatively new to the Twin Cities tech scene. The company operates a digital lending platform that helps farmers get the capital they need to invest in their business. Traive was part of the inaugural Techstars Farm to Fork class in 2018. Last year, it raised $1.3 million in a round of seed funding.
It’s the last round, so you know the drill by now. To determine the outcome of each matchup, we want you to ask yourselves this question: Who would you invest in? Information about each company is available in the bracket. Just click on the arrows by the company name listed beneath each picture.
