Impact Hub MSP, a nonprofit supporting social impact entrepreneurs in the Twin Cities, announced Wednesday that it has selected Katie Kalkman as its new executive director.
Kalkman co-founded Impact Hub MSP in 2015 and has served on its board of directors for the past five years, most recently as board chair. She has more than a decade of experience in business development, consultive selling, marketing and strategic planning.
Since 2005, Kalkman has been part of six startups, including Folk School Warroad, an organization in northern Minnesota that provides locals with experiences in art, culture, local history, traditional crafts and appreciation of natural resources.
Kalkman has also worked internationally with entrepreneurs in China, Hong Kong, Silicon Valley and the Twin Cities.
"Katie is an enthusiastic advocate and champion for entrepreneurial solutions to our toughest challenges," Terri Barreiro, another Impact Hub MSP co-founder, said in a statement. "Her persistence and optimistic outlook on our future together inspires all around her to keep contributing to make a difference."
Kalkman is a member of the advisory committee for the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship with the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University. She has also served on the Make IT MSP task force and is an alum of Leadership Twin Cities.
Late last year, Impact Hub moved into a new space in Stadium Village near the University of Minnesota. The organization previously shared an office with Finnovation Hub as part of a partnership, but the two groups severed ties in June 2019.
