Local startup accelerator gener8tor has kicked off its second summer accelerator class in Minneapolis with five companies from a wide range of industries.
The startups participating in this year's 12-week cohort are from across the country. One company is from Minnesota. Each startup in the program will receive around $90,000 in funding, in addition to mentorship and potential connections to follow-on capital. All five startups have closed on rounds of capital since graduating from the accelerator, gener8tor program director Sibi Murugesan told Minne Inno.
Gener8tor was founded in Madison, Wisc., and has since expanded across the Midwest. The accelerator's Minneapolis arm was established in 2016. As a "concierge startup accelerator," gener8tor accepts businesses from a variety of different industries and finds mentors and resources that correspond to each startup's individual needs.
The 2018 class officially began in late June. Founders participating in gener8tor are required to relocate to the Twin Cities for the duration of the program. After the accelerator wraps up, startups will present their ideas at a demo day for community members in the fall.
