Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will get a $525,000 boost through a brand partnership with Pentair (NYSE: PNR) and water-tech startup Hope Hydration.

The Golden Valley-based water solutions provider installed 10 Hope HydroStations — freestanding filtered, touch-free water dispensers with display screens for advertising — within the airport's two terminals.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission, which oversees MSP and six other Twin Cities reliever airports, approved the partnership in January with Pentair and Hope Hydration which will pay a $525,000 sponsorship fee over three years — $100,000 the first year, $200,000 the subsequent year and $225,000 the last year.

This is part of MSP's new partnership program with businesses and community organizations to enhance innovation and passenger experience at the airport. The program allows the airport to partner with private and public entities to showcase their brands through sponsorship opportunities with physical and digital advertising throughout the terminals. Pentair is MSP's first partner in the program.

Currently, MSP has 80 water refill stations throughout its facilities which were used more than seven million times last year, eliminating an estimated 600 pounds of plastic water bottle waste per day.

Pentair has been working with Miami-based Hope Hydration since 2022 as its filtration technology partner. Each of the HydroStations feature filtration technology by Everpure from Pentair Water Solutions.

HydroStations are currently in Times Square and Central Park in New York City, and used at the Cannes Lions International Festival in Cannes, France, and Cochella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. The startup plans to expand to MLB, NFL and NHL stadiums in 2024. The New York City-based startup's technology has been awarded Consumer Technology 2023 Innovation Award, the SXSW 2022 Smart-City Startup Award, 2023 Earthshot Prize Finalist and 2024 Earthshot Prize nomination.

In early 2020, MAC adopted its 2030 sustainability goals and pledged to divert 75 percent of waste by either consuming less or reusing, recycling or composting what is used. The stations also track real-time data, showing single-use plastics and carbon emissions savings. This data will be displayed on the HydroStations and shared with MAC.
