Daniel Larson, the founder of addiction recovery startup Kyros, stepped down from his position as CEO, according to a statement from the company.
Kyros’ chief operating officer, Kristin Landry, has been selected by the board to serve as the next CEO, according to a statement from Kyros.
Larson has been CEO since 2021, when he founded the company. The startup raised more than $17.3 million while Larson was CEO.
"Daniel has a great vision for the business, and he helped the company achieve many significant milestones during his time as CEO," the company wrote in a statement about Daniel's departure. "He felt that now was the right time to pass the leadership baton on to the next CEO who will lead Kyros into its next chapter of growth."
The departure comes amid scrutiny of Kyros. KARE-11, citing former Kyros employees, reported earlier this month that the FBI's local office had interviewed former Kyros employees and contractors, and KARE-11 said the inspector general for the Minnesota Department of Human Services in February began an investigation into Kyros and its nonprofit partner Refocus Recovery, which was also founded by Larson.
KARE has been reporting for months on the billing practices used by both companies.
Although the company acknowledges there may be occasional billing errors, it denies allegations that it deliberately overbilled Medicaid, Kyros told KARE-11.
