Yardstik, a tech startup that helps streamline the hiring and onboarding of new employees, is moving its headquarters from Edina to downtown Minneapolis.
The company will move into 14,000 square feet at 100 Washington Square — roughly half of the sixth floor of the 22-story building. It's taking over space from software company Jamf, which last year put 25,000 square feet of space in the building up for sublease.

Yardstik previously occupied space at Pentagon Park in Edina. The brokering agent for the lease was Sam Eicher with CRE Partners.
Yardstik's technology automates identity verification, background checks, and similar hiring and onboarding tasks; CEO Matt Meents said it reduces screening-related costs by an average of 22%.
The company's customer base has grown from 175 a year ago to more than 700. Its staff as grown to 52 employees, 14 of them hired over the past year. Thirty-two of those employees are locally based and 20 are remote talent.
Meents said his team looked at a few different places for the office. They ultimately chose the 100 Washington Square location because of the building's amenities and location, which includes the nearby riverfront, the North Loop neighborhood — Meents has already planned an outing to a Minnesota Twins game — and several restaurants.
"We started remotely for the first few years, but as we started to get larger, we realized getting people together creates a fun dynamic and culture," Meents said. "In the startup industry, we're creative and more competitive when together."
While Meents said the company's next funding round will be close to the end of 2025, they've stayed busy hiring for positions in sales, marketing and product engineering and optimizing its current platform for a better customer experience.
