St. Paul-based health tech startup YourPath has named Philip Rutherford as chief operating officer.

Rutherford spent most of his decades-long career at Microsoft, Micron Electronics and companies within Taylor Corp., YourPath said in a news release. At these companies, his roles varied across corporate sales, marketing, and management.

His most recent role was serving as the COO at Washington D.C.-based recovery organization Faces & Voices of Recovery. There, he is credited for leading the development and management for their cloud-based data collection platform.

In many ways, Rutherford is heavily aligned with the mission YourPath has taken to help those with substance-use disorders. He is an active member in the recovery community, as well as standing committees at the National Institute of Health, the FDA and other Federal agencies. He serves on several nonprofit boards including Serve Minnesota, the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, Twin Cities Recovery Project and Docs Recovery House. He also has a bachelor's in psychology with a specialization in substance-use disorders.

With Rutherford as COO, YourPath is expecting to continue its growth and development trajectory. The startup was launched in 2020 by three co-founders: CEO Jordan Hansen, Head of Innovation Jeff Larson and Chief Medical Officer Philip Gyura. The company operates three main health solutions for patients, providers and payers. One is a virtual care model for patients to conveniently access care through their phone. They also equip care providers with data collection to help improve their quality of care and a communication platform.

Last year, YourPath was the only Minnesota-based startup to join UnitedHealthcare's accelerator program while raising millions in seed funding. Its co-founder Gyura was also named this year among the Business Journal's Health Care Heroes for not only helping create a company that served several thousand patients and works in collaboration with all major health systems in the region, but also developed a scalable care model that could help expand the organization's services.
