The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development is looking for a new director for Launch Minnesota.

The office is dedicated to supporting Minnesota startups and entrepreneurs, and the director will work with leaders in the ecosystem to build programs and partnerships. DEED is seeking applicants with five years of professional experience in a position related to entrepreneurship, but related degrees can substitute for some amount of experience.

Other preferred qualifications include angel- or venture-investment experience, a successful track record working closely with entrepreneurs, experience working with tech-commercialization efforts and an ability to build partnerships across industries and geographies.

Neela Mollgaard was the most recent Launch Minnesota director. In March, DEED announced she had shifted to the role of executive director of Small Business Development.

While leading the Launch Minnesota office, Mollgaard “raised the visibility and importance of entrepreneurship for individuals and communities statewide,” according to DEED’s announcement. Under her leadership, Launch Minnesota awarded more than $6.5 million to businesses that went on to raise nearly $80 million.
