The Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s Minnesota chapter is hosting its 11th annual Entrepreneurs' Rally, headlined by Timberwolves co-owner Alex Rodriguez and business motivational speaker Meridith Elliott Powell.

This year’s event is expected to be the biggest ever, bringing together over 500 entrepreneurs to build connections and share experiences, said EO Minnesota President Patrick Donohue. It will take place May 11 at the JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America hotel.

In the past, the Rally has attracted between 150-300 attendees, said Donohue, who is also managing partner and CEO at St. Paul-based Hill Capital Corp.

The event will include VIP receptions, an entrepreneurs’ panel discussion, networking opportunities, roundtable mentoring and keynote speeches, including by Elliott Powell, a business strategist and author, as well as Rodriguez.

A former baseball star-turned-businessman, Rodriguez is chairman and CEO of A-Rod Corp., which invests in startups and partners other companies in the real estate, technology, sports, entertainment and health sectors.

Locally, he’s known for his and his business partner Marc Lore’s $1.5 billion plan to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. He and Lore also recently invested $20 million towards a ticketing startup called Jump Platforms.

A-Rod Corp. is also affiliated with real estate firm Monument Capital Management, which owns more than 1,000 apartment units in the Twin Cities.

The day is intentionally designed to help entrepreneurs connect, build trust and learn about each other’s experiences, which is best done through the roundtable mentoring sessions, Donohue said.

The event is tailored to entrepreneurs of all types, including those who have founded startups and those who have been in business for years, Donohue said. There’s content to help them “wherever they are in their journey,” he added.
