The Beta Group, previously known as just Beta, has announced the 20 companies that will participate in its spring 2023 accelerator program.
The free, non-dilutive accelerator program gives early-stage technology companies access to mentors and experts as well as other help in developing their businesses. This year’s program added two strategic partners: Optum, which is part of Minnetonka-based UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
Eight of the 20 cohort companies are developing health care software-as-a-service or medical-device solutions, said Beta’s announcement on its news website, Tech.mn.
The accelerator program runs for four months. The end of the program culminates in a showcase and demo day event where the cohort companies can display their work.
Here are the companies participating in the spring 2023 program, according to Beta and the companies:
- Ambient Intelligence – a Minneapolis-based technology company developing a contactless fall-detection and movement solution for long-term care facilities
- Atticus Capital – a Minneapolis-based, full-service investment platform, providing personalized investing help for individuals and businesses
- Davenport SAF-T Systems – a Minneapolis-based company developing a novel, patented vest that inflates to protect seniors when they fall
- Explained – a Twin Cities-based educational service that helps employees understand their benefits and insurance programs
- GoNo Food Finder – a Minneapolis-based app allowing users to scan a product barcode to get a personalized recommendation on whether its good for them
- Hinckley Medical – a Lakeville-based manufacturing company that works on eliminating pre-hospital dosing errors
- Insight Autonomy – a Minneapolis-based company developing an innovative mobile app that provides Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) warnings to drivers
- JAS Monitoring – a Prior Lake-based remote monitoring software company
- Levelrie – a Twin Cities-based platform using AI to curate styled outfits for users
- MeDecibel – a Rochester-based digital health care research platform that makes scientific literature more accessible and reproducible
- Melodi – a Minneapolis-based medical device manufacturer that makes technology to help women undergoing breast reconstruction
- Oppify – a Minneapolis-based platform that streamlines sales, onboarding and customer expansion
- Opsi -- a Minneapolis-based a cloud-based workflow management platform that aims to help chefs streamline their culinary operations
- Powered by People – a Twin Cities-based mobile app allowing users to connect senders of packages to travelers going to the desired destination
- SELA – a Minneapolis-based educational service designed to raise social emotional learning awareness and improve emotional literacy skills
- Solar Informatics – an Eagan-based software-as-a-service platform providing support to solar developers, community solar managers and more in their projects
- SonnyLife – a Minneapolis-based company providing a platform for attending physicians to provide assessments, content and tele-health coaching to patients
- StoryForge – a Minnesota-based app connecting underrepresented authors with support, editing and help with growth so that they can get published
- Tablmakr – a Minneapolis-based mentor-program-management platform to universities and other organizations
- XanthosHealth – a Minneapolis-based health IT platform designed to aid the social-care referral process
