TeamGenius, a Minneapolis-based sports evaluation software startup, has been acquired by Human Powered Health, which is carving out its own niche in the sports-tech space
TeamGenius announced last week that it will bring its expertise in athletic data collection to Edina-based Human Powered Health, which offers personalized physical assessments for athletes, along with advice on how to improve performance
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
TeamGenius was created in 2016 by cofounders, Chris Knutson and Todd Larson, after Larson decided to build an app to help him coach his children’s soccer club that he volunteered for.
Since its creation, the startup said it has served more than 700,000 athletes, coaches, and administrators across more than 1,000 youth sports clubs. In 2021, TeamGenius raised $1.1 million of venture capital to expand its platform.
Chris Knutson, who has been CEO of TeamGenius since 2018, said in a statement that TeamGenius will continue to strengthen their software and customer experience to sports administrators and volunteers as a part of Human Powered Health.
“TeamGenius’ technology prowess is a catalyst for Human Powered Health in helping athletes unlock their potential,” said Dan Cohen, Chief Performance Officer, Human Powered Health. “Together, we can help ensure athletes and coaches have the best data, insights, and tools to improve their performance.”
