Gravie, a Minneapolis-based health benefits startup, has announced the hiring of Greg Burrell as the company's first-ever chief medical officer.
Developing and leading the startups' goals for care, Burrell will oversee its integrated clinical operations and group health outcomes, according to a news release issued on Thursday.
Prior to joining Gravie, Burrell served as vice president of clinical solutions & operations at Accolade, a personalized health care provider that serves over 10 million members. He also co-founded Carbon Health, a virtual health care provider, and was vice president of clinical product & strategy at that firm.
Burrell received his medical degree from the University of Chicago, and completed his residency at the University of California.
"With his vast experience and relentless focus on wellness, Greg is well-suited to help us innovate and optimize our products and solutions," said Gravie Co-founder and Co-CEO Abir Sen in the release.
"I’m excited to join Gravie in flipping the system on its head and providing individuals with straightforward, affordable access to care," said Burrell.
Since 2013, Gravie has provided employer-sponsored health benefit products for small and medium-sized companies. It was a finalist in this year's Minne Inno Fire Awards and received $90 million in funding earlier this year. It has raised $161 million in venture funding, as of mid-July, the Business Journal reported.
