Minnedemo, fondly called Minnesota’s “Geek Show and Tell” by its organizers, recently announced its next seven presenters, gearing up for its 37th event showcasing Minnesota-made technology.
The event takes place Sept. 22 at Riverview Theater in Minneapolis during this year’s Twin Cities Startup Week. At the event, the presenters will get on stage and show off their working technology for seven minutes – with no slides allowed.
“It's a showcase of the brilliance and the creativity and the tenacity of the tech community," said Maria Ploessl, executive director of Minnestar, which hosts the event. "They get to show off their passion projects and their businesses, so, we're really excited.”
Minnedemo first started in 2006 with about 100 people gathering at the now-closed Chino Latino in Uptown, Ploessl said. Since then, the event has become bigger and seen "countless" innovative ideas in technology, she said.
And it now gets hundreds of attendees, she said. It is held two to three times per year.
Some notable tech companies among Minnedemo’s array of past presenters include CrashPlan, Flip (formerly Flipgrid) and Civic Eagle.
"It really is a celebration of Minnesota tech and Minnesota tech innovation,” Ploessl said.
The presenters for this fall’s Minnedemo37, according to the announcement, are:
- Sunsett.io – an app providing businesses with personalized insights on their performance to facilitate growth
- SitEat – a concession management platform giving operators a way to reduce wait times
- Ultimate Elder Battle Royale – an over-the-top fighting and roleplaying game with aging superheroes
- Collab Spot – an all-in-one platform for website design collaboration
- Aurelius 3.0 – a platform allowing users to conduct, analyze and share customer research
- Teqnizan – a startup making Bluetooth-enabled earrings that can connect to devices and play music
- IntelligentRx – a platform helping users find pharmacies with the lowest prescription prices available
Minnestar, a nonprofit that works to support connectivity within the local startup and tech industry, also hosts Minnebar, an annual technology conference that is participant-led – without keynote speakers or formal workshops, the nonprofit's website said.
