Players Health, a Minneapolis-based insurance startup for youth athletes, has acquired Monarch Management Corp.

The addition of the San Antonio, Texas-based Monarch will enhance Players Health’s product capability and aid its mission of keeping athletes safe, according to a statement from the company

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Players Health was founded in 2015 as a platform focused on tracking injuries and allergies for youth sport athletes, however the business has grown over the past few years to offer insurance to sports leagues.

Monarch meanwhile, was founded in 1990 and focuses on supplementary accident and health insurance for K-12 sports and school-related activities

"With Monarch Management, we are able to further our mission and extend our protection to schools and school-sponsored sports activities," said Naveen Anand, group president of Insurance at Players Health, in a statement.

Players Health raised $28 million in a venture capital round back in March. The firm’s CEO, Tyrre Burks, was named to the Minneapolis/ St. Paul Business Journal’s Most Admired CEOs list for 2022
