The Makee Co., a business management firm based in St. Paul, will open a small business incubator in the location of a former Wells Fargo branch that was burned down during the social unrest of 2020.
The facility, located at 3030 Nicollet Ave. S. will be called The Hub and open its doors in 2024, according to Lynn Pingol, CEO of Makee. "One of our main focuses on the space is to make sure it's built by, for and used by minority-owned, woman-owned and veteran-owned businesses," Pingol said.
The Hub will offer workshops, training sessions and private offices for the businesses in its cohorts. The facilities will be accessible for other individuals and small businesses as well, but they might have to pay a fee.
The incubator will also include an open-space design, drop-in desks and collaboration rooms, Pingol said.
The Hub is part of a much larger project at the location. Wells Fargo and Project for Pride in Living have partnered on the development, which is expected to bring a new bank branch, 110 units of affordable housing and 8,300 square feet of commercial space to the property.
The Hub is expected to occupy between 2,500 and 3,000 square feet of the facility's 8,300 square foot commercial area.
