Marcia Page, co-founder and executive chair of Värde Partners, has launched an investment firm focused on working with women and other underrepresented talent.
MPowered Capital will operate as an independently managed investment firm and is being developed in collaboration with Minneapolis-based Värde. Värdehas $14 billion of assets under management in the corporate credit, financial services, real estate and mortgage sectors.
Over the past year, Minneapolis-based MPowered has already committed capital to numerous endeavors, including fund investments, structured transactions and direct/co-investments, according to a press release. The firm recently closed a direct-investment and structured transaction with L2 Point, a women-founded, San Francisco-based investment firm specializing in growing companies.
Page will lead the firm alongside Chrissie Chen Pariso, who has 20 years of investment experience, and Yibai Haney, who has over a decade of experience as a structured- and growth-equity investor.
MPowered said in a statement it will offer its clients exposure to a diversified pool of targeted investment talent that many investors wouldn't normally have access to.
“Female and other underrepresented talent in the investment-management industry has long been undercapitalized and disadvantaged, resulting in what we believe is a significant capital mismatch, and therefore opportunity,” Page said. “...Our mission is to create more representation within the industry by addressing the dearth of funding for this talent and demonstrating the compelling opportunity to deliver strong performance.”
