Minneapolis software firm Inspectorio has landed a spot in Apple Inc.'s first Impact Accelerator cohort — a program Apple launched to support Black, Latino and Native American-owned companies focusing on environmental sustainability.

Inspectorio, which provides quality- and compliance-management software to thousands of clients around the globe, is one of 15 companies Apple selected for the program. Inspectorio's services help companies make their supply chain more sustainable, among other things, Apple told the Business Journal.

Neither Apple nor Inspectorio CEO Carlos Moncayo could immediately be reached for comment on whether or how much Apple is investing in the Inspectorio.

The cohort "will participate in customized training and have access to Apple experts and an alumni community," Apple told the Business Journal. After a three month virtual training program, Apple will consider retaining the cohort companies as suppliers for its supply chain and products, the company said in a press release.

The Impact Accelerator is part of Apple's Racial Equity and Justice Initiative, which is aimed at combating barriers to success for entrepreneurs of color and creating solutions for disadvantaged communities as the effects of climate change become more present.

Moncayo was the youngest Latin American CEO to join the Group of Fifty, and the World Economic Forum named him a Young Global Leader, Apple told the Business Journal.

"We are thrilled to welcome our first Impact Accelerator class, and look forward to seeing how these innovative businesses will expand their work to protect the planet and our communities," Lisa Jackson, Apple vice president of environment, policy, and social initiatives, said in the release.

The other members of the Impact Accelerator cohort are:

  • BlocPower — Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Mosaic Global Transportation — San Jose, Calif.
  • Volt Energy — Washington, D.C.
  • Bench-Tek Solutions — Santa Clara, Calif.
