Soona, a Minneapolis- and Denver-based same-day photo startup that makes content for e-commerce companies, said Wednesday it appointed Dae Mellencamp as chief operating officer.

Soona said Mellencamp will oversee core areas of the business that support the virtual shoot experience, from the creative crews down to the operations, customer support and sales teams.

“Dae has an exceptional ability to drive customer insights into remarkable customer and operational outcomes,” said Liz Giorgi, co-founder and CEO of Soona. “Her leadership style is without comparison and we are thrilled to have her join us as we build the next big company in the e-commerce technology stack.”

Mellencamp previously served as COO of Gaia Inc., a Denver-based video streaming platform. Prior to that, she was president and CEO of Vimeo Inc. a New York-based video hosting platform.

During her tenure at Vimeo, she steered the company through critical growth stages and put the company on the path to its IPO in May.

“Soona’s innovative brand and technology solve real-world visual content speed and scaling problems for e-commerce companies of all sizes,” Mellencamp said in a statement. “Combine that with the dynamic leadership of Liz and Hayley (Anderson), a clear mission and a culture of innovation, and it became an irresistible rare opportunity for growth that I can’t wait to help drive and am thrilled to be part of.”

In April, Soona announced a $10.2 million round of venture financing led by New York City-based Union Square Ventures.

The company has over 7,000 customers and three hubs in Austin, Texas, Denver and Minneapolis.
