A Rochester, Minn.-based startup is finding a way to streamline football practices with technology, and investors are noticing.
GoRout announced last week it has received $500,000 in funding from Traction Capital, a Minneapolis-based venture capital fund. The team at Traction Capital will now assist GoRout with adding to its roster and ramping up sales as the firm eyes expanding to more sports.
The company currently works with over 400 teams, ranging from high school to Division I collegiate.
"Our biggest competition is the status quo," said GoRout Founder Mike Rolih. "Nobody is doing what we are doing yet, and the results speak for themselves."
Rolih added that overall, teams that use GoRout have a .700 winning percentage, meaning they win 7-out-of-10 games.
GoRout works by allowing coaches to send upcoming plays directly to players through a mobile app, eliminating the need to huddle and view the play on paper each time. The players receive the play through a screen worn on their waists.
The technology's main application is for scout teams, which run the plays of upcoming opponents against a team's starters.
In 2018, GoRout raised $1 million in seed funding, according to a report from Twin Cities Business.
