Pikup, a Minneapolis-based weekly delivery app, recently closed a $1.8 million round of funding.

California-based Unusual Ventures, Chicago-based Starting Line and Minneapolis-based Matchstick Ventures all contributed to the round, which will expand the company's delivery options and merchant partners.

"We wanted to partner with Pikup because the delivery space had heated up with companies focused on faster and faster delivery times. However, not everything is needed immediately,"  said Rachel Star of Unusual Ventures. "The core thesis here is that by having consolidated demand for predetermined time blocks, delivery can be much cheaper and more efficient for merchants and consumers."

Pikup currently offers weekly deliveries from Lunds, Cub Foods, Target, Costco, Trader Joe's and more.

“This funding allows us to expand the diversity of the merchants we offer to our neighborhoods each week and the number of markets we can serve," said CEO Bharrat Pulgam. "Customers can now get their groceries for the week, liquor for the weekend, dinner, and more all through one place."

Heading into 2022, Pikup plans on expanding into two more Midwest markets while adding its service to the entire Twin Cities market.

The company was founded in 2018 by Pulgam, Josh Chang and Sam Lerdahl. Later that year, it received an investment from the Target + Techstarts retail accelerator.
