March Midwest Report: All of the Region’s Major Tech Fundings, M&As, and IPOs this Month

While we’re primarily focused on Minnesota's innovation economy, we also have our eyes on all of the startup and tech activity happening throughout the entire Midwest. Here are the major tech fundings, acquisitions, mergers, moves, and IPOs that went down in the region in March. See all Midwest Reports here

3/3: Chicago-based Ascent Technologies, a regulatory tech company, raised a $6 million Series A from Alsop Louie Partners, with participation from Randall Kroszner.

3/4: Madison, Wisconsin-based EnsoData, a healthcare artificial intelligence company that provides software for analyzing sleep data, raised a $1.5 million seed round from Colle Capital, with participation from HealthX Ventures, Sternhill Associates, Wisconsin Investment Partners, and M25 Group.

3/6: Leawood, Kansas-based C2FO, an online marketplace for working capital, raised $100 million in venture funding from Allianz X and Mubadala, with participation from Temasek, Union Square Ventures and Mithril Capital.

3/6: Chicago-based Paro, a network of highly vetted on-demand finance professionals, raised a $5 million in Series A from Revolution Ventures, with participation from Global Founders Capital.

3/7: Columbus, Ohio-based Simple-Fill, a natural gas compression startup, raised $1.7 million in funding from Worthington Industries, with participation from Rev1 Ventures and Carmen Innovations Fund.

3/8: St. Louis, Missouri-based Bandura Systems, a developer of cyber security software, raised a $3.5 million seed round from Blu Ventures, Gula Tech Adventures, the Maryland Tech Development Corp., Prosper Women Entrepreneurs, SixThirty, SixThirty Cyber and UMB Financial Corporation.

3/9: Indianapolis-based Octiv, a cloud platform for creating, sharing, signing, storing, analyzing and managing documents in one place, was acquired by Conga; terms of the deal were not disclosed.

3/10: Chicago-based Interior Define, an online platform for designing your own furniture, raised a $15 million Series B from Pritzker Group Venture Capital and Fifth Wall.

3/14: Minneapolis-based Provation Medical, a provider of procedure documentation software, has been acquired by private equity firm Clearlake Capital.

3/15: Chicago-based early-stage VC firm Math Venture Partners is raising upwards of $39 million for its second fund, according to an SEC filing.

3/16: Chicago and Boston-based Scout Exchange, a platform for marketplace recruiting, raised $100 million in funding from TRI Ventures.

3/16: Cleveland-based Everstream Solutions, a provider of fiber based Ethernet, Internet, and data center solutions to businesses throughout the Midwest, was acquired by AMP Capital. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

3/18: Chicago-based LandscapeHub, a startup focused on procurement processes for the nursery and landscape markets, raised a $4.4 million seed round from Chicago Ventures, with participation from Hyde Park Venture Partners and Hyde Park Angels.

3/20: Chicago-based Figo Pet Insurance, a cloud-based provider of premium health insurance plans for cats and dogs, raised $4 million in funding from HCS Capital Partners.

3/20: Chicago-based Talent Rover, a recruitment software platform, was acquired by Boston-based staffing software company Bullhorn. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

3/20: Indianapolis-based Bluelock, a leader in Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions, was acquired by InterVision Systems, a Santa Clara-based tech solutions provider.

3/20: Chicago-based Foxtrot, a food and beer delivery app with a network of brick-and-mortar stores, raised a $6 million Series A from Fifth Wall, with participation from Lerer Hippeau, Revolution’s Rise of the Rest, Collaborative VC, BoxGroup, Maveron and M3 Ventures.

3/20: Chicago-based Hazel Technologies Inc, developers of biotech for reducing waste in the agricultural supply chain, raised a $3.26 million Series A from S2G Ventures.

3/20: Glencoe, Illinois-based Origami Risk, a provider of workflow, reporting, and analysis tools for risk management, received an investment from private equity firm Spectrum Equity. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

3/20: Bozeman, Montana-based Blackmore Sensors and Analytics, a leading developer of frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) lidar for the automotive industry, raised an $18 million Series B from BMW i Ventures, with participation from Toyota AI Ventures, Millennium Technology Value Partners and Next Frontier Capital.

3/21: Bloomfield, Michigan-based private equity firm Alidade Capital raised over $117 million for its fourth fund, per an SEC filing.

3/23: St. Louis-based SteadyMD, a provider of online concierge primary care, raised $2.5 million in funding from Pelion Venture Partners, with participation from CrossCut Ventures, M25 Group, Service Provider Capital and Hyde Park Venture Partners.

3/26: Naperville-based Infogix, a multinational data controls and analytics software companyacquired Lavastorm, a Boston-based data prep and analytics business.

3/26: Minneapolis-based Ceridian HCM Holding, a provider of HR software, filed for an IPO up to $200 million.

3/27: Columbus, Ohio-based Root Insurance, a car insurance startup that incorporates individual driving behavior into every quote, raised a $51 million Series C from Redpoint Ventures, with participation from Scale Venture Partners, Ribbit Capital and Silicon Valley Bank Capital Partners.

3/27: Columbus, Ohio-based Circular Wave Drive, a tech company that manufactures compact speed-reducing gears for robotics and applications, raised $2 million in seed funding from Ikove Venture Partners.
