Alabama-based Wyndy is expanding its growing footprint to the Research Triangle.

The startup will now offer service to Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill in North Carolina. The news comes after the company launched in Huntsville and Mobile in Alabama in January.

Wyndy, a success story that garnered investments from venture capital firm Benson Capital Partners, HighFive Health Care CEO Chad Trull and Jemison Investment Co., aims to simplify the process of sourcing, booking and paying background-checked babysitters who are attending college in the local area.

Missy Polhemus, Wyndy CEO, said she is eager to launch in the Research Triangle, adding that since launching in Birmingham, Alabama, the app has facilitated over 100,000 jobs across the Southeast.

The company is attempting to leverage the increasing needs to flexible child care options that arose from the pandemic to fuel its growth.

"We are looking to hire several hundred sitters in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill to meet growing parent demand," Polhemus said. "On average, our sitters earn $16 an hour and have complete flexibility to work as little or as much as they would like."
