The 39 Triangle firms that made the 2021 Inc. 5000 list

The Triangle once again has a big presence on the annual Inc. 5000 list for fastest-growing private companies.

Inc. magazine is out with its 2021 ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America, and once again the Triangle is well represented on the list.

In all, 39 companies based in the region made the Inc. 5000 rankings this year, including a spot in the top 50.

The highest ranking local company on the list is Nugget at No. 29 – it's also the highest ranked North Carolina company. The manufacturer of lounge furniture for children has a new home in Butner in a 93,000-square-foot facility. The company, founded in 2014 by UNC alum David Baron, reported three-year revenue growth of 9,624 percent.

Last year, Nugget was at No. 11 on the Inc. 5000 list. In 2019, it was No. 159.

Next up is Apex-based Sitation at No. 379. The e-commerce solutions company offers data software for retailers. It reported revenue growth of 1,274 percent.

The third highest-ranking local company is Crossrope in Raleigh. The fitness company, founded in 2012, sells weighted jump ropes and reported three-year revenue growth of 1,239 percent.

Overall, the Triangle has nine companies in the top 1,000 on this year's list and 18 in the top 2,000.

Since 2015, Triangle companies have maintained a steady presence on the list, with a high mark of 51 local companies in 2015.

North Carolina has 127 companies on the 2021 list, down from 143 last year.
