If you were one of the 6.3 million Americans seeking a job last month, you know how frustrating the whole process can be.

Brian Glover wants to make it better through his startup’s online and app platform. After more than a decade in sales, operations, marketing and talent management, Glover saw that his many of his clients were dealing with the same hiring and retention issues.

“We started Previewed because the current job search process sucks,” he said. “It’s a job in itself.”

Previewed’s hiring and recruiting platform is designed to give job seekers a truer depiction of what a role looks like on a day-to-day basis through an immersive video for each individual role and company, Glover said. Using artificial intelligence, personality tests and résumé information, the platform will also help match a job seeker’s skills and values to an open position.

From there, when job seekers are matched to an open position, they can apply by submitting a short video responding to a set of questions. If they're not an exact match, Previewed will also direct them to resources where a job seeker can upskill and return to the application with a badge of completion for priority consideration.

Previewed launched its platform in November, and Glover said that he has three employers in the Triad that are beta testing it, although he was unable to disclose them. On the job seeker side, Previewed has a waitlist 1,200 deep, according to Glover.

Now, in 2024, Previewed is fundraising its first pre-seed round, having been bootstrapped since its founding a year ago. Glover said the startup is seeking to raise $1 million at a $7 million valuation, and he expects to close the round toward the end of Q1.

Glover said that Previewed will also benefit hiring managers and employers by bringing them qualified and quality candidates.

“If you’re a matched candidate with the employer, you’re not in a stack of résumés,” he said. “You’re in a pack of, say 10, sharp needles that the employer would have normally had to pick out of a haystack.”

Previewed charges a subscription fee for employers, either $99 per month with a 10% success fee or $499 with a 3% success fee. The success fee accounts for a percentage of the first-year salary of the job that Previewed help fill, and the platform will also make ad revenue through videos.

The startup, with a coalition of 27 freelance videographers across North and South Carolina, can make a "day in the life" video within 72 hours, or an employer can make its own.

When Previewed begins its initial rollout in the first half of 2024 across the Southeast, Glover intends to target municipalities and local governments first to help the younger workforce break into that industry and enact change.

Glover's goal is for Previewed to have made $2 million in revenue by the end of the year, although he admitted his loftier goal is $10 million.
