Brian Platz

Organization: Fluree PBC

Title: Co-founder, co-CEO

How he delivered in 2020: Platz and co-founder/serial entrepreneur Flip Filipowski are emerging leaders in the implementation of blockchain technology that securely manages companies’ information. Founded in 2016 and operating out Bailey Power Plant in Winston-Salem's Innovation Quarter, Fluree is a fast-rising company that started 2020 off with a bang. The company in February announced that it had entered into a contract to provide its blockchain data platform to the federal government for use by the Department of Defense and the Air Force. Weeks later,  Fluree revealed a new investment from independent venture fund Engage that could help put its services within the reach business of all sizes. Those deals come on top of some $5 million it has raised since 2019, and a budding partnership with Wake Forest School of Medicine’s Center for Healthcare Innovation to better manage data integration in the review of patient care. The technology that Fluree provides clients ensures trust and accountability in the origination and manipulation of data, ensuring it either has never been tampered with or, if it has, that it can be determined who accessed the data, what changes where made and when.
