The Moffitt McKinley Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center’s new surgical hospital, has partnered with pCare, a medtech company, to add smart rooms or digital patient care services to the building.
pCare is a New York-based company that sells services that “engage, entertain and educate” patients in a hospital setting, according to a release. pCare’s technology is placed throughout the Moffitt’s 10-story, 500,000-square-foot space.
The hospital rooms feature a smart TV with pCare’s platform showing patient information. The rooms will also have “Room Connect,” a screen at each door that displays information alongside a tablet option for the bedside that controls the room.
The technological additions add to the Moffitt Center’s already modern space. The building, which opened for patients in July, also has Amazon Alexa devices available in each room with sleeper sofas. The hospital has 1,000 employees and is expected to meet a growing volume of patients and surgeries in the next 10 years. It has 19 operating suites, 128 inpatient rooms, 72 perioperative rooms. It currently has 80 inpatient beds staffed and equipped, and it can expand to 400 to meet future demand, the release said.
