New Jersey-based Ferro City — a social networking platform — has acquired Tampa-based Croow.

Croow’s assets and some employees were brought into the New Jersey company with the acquisition for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition serves as the second exit for Croow’s founder and CEO, David Capece.

“With the acquisition of CROOW software and talent, our speed to market will be enhanced as we are creating a vibrant community and subscription business in entertainment production,” Ferro City CEO Joe Scacciaferro said in a statement.

Capece launched Croow in 2020 because of frustrations he observed with digital collaboration. The startup spent time as a member of the Tampa nonprofit program Embarc Collective and raised more than $1 million in funding.

“We built Croow to stand out as a next-generation platform to help video production team members reach the next level of production. It’s the same philosophy that drew us to Ferro City,” Capece said in a statement.

Capece previously founded Sparxoo, which was one of the largest marketing firms in the Tampa Bay area. The company grew for more than a decade before being acquired by St. Petersburg-based marketing tech firm Big Sea in 2022. Capece has been honored in several Tampa Bay Business Journal events, such as a 40 under 40 honoree in 2013.
