Bayfront Health St. Petersburg has begun a phased rollout of Rover, an ELLiE mobile app meant to enhance patient care and workflow efficiency for nurses.

On Rover, nurses have on-the-go access to patient information and can document medication administration. They're also able to use a secure chat feature to connect with a patient's care team.

Nurses can facilitate lab collections, input doctors' orders and record patient vitals.

"Through leveraging technology, we can create avenues and spaces that give our team members time back in their shift, we can create efficiencies that positively impact patient care, and we can create environments of innovative thinking that will continue to be beneficial to us as we reimagine care," said Darius Love, assistant vice president, workforce optimization and redesign, Orlando Health, in a release.

Orlando Health, the parent health system, of Bayfront, conducted a pilot program in St. Pete and at other hospitals, including Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital.

About 220 iPhone 13s with the app installed were distributed, according to a release. Rover is expected to go live in all of Bayfront Health St. Pete's nursing units from 2024 through 2025.
