LinkedIn now has proof that technology workers across the nation really are moving to the Tampa Bay region in droves.

The website released its top 10 cities for tech employees based on migration patterns, with the Tampa Bay region landing at the No. 6 spot. The Bay area had roughly 128 employees per every 10,000 LinkedIn users relocate to the region between May 2020 and April 2021.

It was the top region in the state, beating Orlando at No. 12 and Miami at No. 11. The Miami-Dade region has specifically made a splash with large financial institutions either expanding or relocating entirely to the area. But according to the LinkedIn data, the region had 76 employees for every 10,000 users, with Orlando slightly behind.

Austin, Texas, came out on top with the No. 1 ranking and an average of 216 workers moving to the region per every 10,000 LinkedIn users. Perhaps unsurprisingly, San Francisco came in last place, with a net loss of 80 tech workers for every 10,000. Other tech hubs including Boston and Chicago came in at negative 54 employees and negative 53 workers, respectively.

Beyond tech workers as a whole, a number of technology corporations have expanded to the Bay area, including New York-based CrossBorder Solutions and Canadian-based Codeboxx Technology.

There's also been a slew of tech CEOs with Silicon Valley and New York City backgrounds migrating to the region, with backgrounds from Snapchat, Hello Fresh and LinkedIn. Some of those executives weighed in at a recent Tampa Bay Inno event, pointing out the region's strengths, including inclusivity, and potential stumbling blocks, such as the lack of transit options.
