This year kicked off with several CEO promotions across the Tampa Bay tech scene.
The promotion or hiring of a CEO can be because the current head of the company wants to step down, but it could also indicate a shakeup in the organization, making room for new funding, getting acquired or even filing an initial public offering.
We've rounded up the local companies that have a new CEO.
• St. Petersburg-based InformedDNA, a genetics services organization, named Dan Lieber its new CEO. Lieber has more than 25 years' experience in the health care industry, and previously held senior health care leadership positions at AbleTo (now part of Optum) and Universal American (now part of Centene). InformedDNA's former CEO and co-founder David Nixon will become executive chairman of its board of directors.
• Shama Keskar was named as the co-founder and chief technology officer of Tampa-based Nickelytics. She previously served as an engineering leader at Google, followed by becoming the senior engineering manager for LinkedIn. Former co-founder Sven Hermann has stepped down and will serve as an adviser to the company. Get Keskar's full story here.
• Clearwater-based PODS Enterprises named Kathryn Marinello its new president and CEO. She previously served as president and CEO of Hertz Global Holdings and before that, was a senior adviser at Los Angeles-based Ares Management LLC. She will fill in the role of previous CEO John Koch, who is retiring.
• Omnivore, a Clearwater-based restaurant tech company that caught the attention of tech titans like Jeff Vinik and Arnie Bellini, named Dan Singer its new CEO. Before coming to the company, he served as vice president of finance for Tampa-based tech company FairWarning. Singer will replace Mike Wior, a co-founder, in the CEO spot. Wior left the company in August, with Singer stepping into the interim CEO position. Read more here.
Honorable mention for positions that aren't CEO but still notable include:
