The city of St. Petersburg is bringing back its pitch night, which aims to bring attention to local startups while also giving one a grand cash prize.
Five companies will face off Feb. 24 for a $5,000 grand prize, after presenting virtually to a panel of judges and event attendees. The pitch nights are hosted by St. Pete's Greenhouse, which serves as a business development service for local businesses. The startups presenting all need to be four years old or less, have a scalable and innovative concept and previously have presented at the city's 1 Million Cups event for entrepreneurs or be in an entrepreneurship program within Tampa Bay.
Seven-year-old Miles Fetherson-Resch was the first ever winner of the Pitch Night when the program kicked off in 2019. The five presenting companies clamoring for the grand prize, as well as a $500 People's Choice Award, include:
- GovLia: Streamlines and digitizes a company's supplier diversity compliance, allowing an easier way to find diverse subcontractors and advertise opportunities
- Bea Better Eating: Currently in beta mode, the startup will use artificial intelligence to help users create healthy eating patterns, provide mindfulness techniques and more
