A Tampa tech firm has partnered with industry giant IBM.

Lumina Analytics, a Tampa-based analytics company founded in 2015, has signed an agreement with IBM (NYSE: IBM) allowing Lumina to work with IBM customers. Lumina has also moved its platform over to the IBM Cloud as part of the agreement and is now part of the IBM Cloud for Financial Services program. The deal was made for an undisclosed amount.

"We will never stop pursuing our mission to utilize technology as a force for good and moving forward we’re looking to further integrate IBM services to continue to strengthen the capabilities of [our platform] Radiance and what we offer our clients," Michael Browne, Lumina’s new chief operating officer, said in a blog post. "These advances will put our customers in a better position to prioritize their risks and protect the people and things that really matter."

Lumina's platform Radiance searches the internet to gather all information based on a single search term, typically an individual's name. The company also developed tools in March to not only track Covid-19 cases, but also predict the spread. The company has continued to gain ground over recent years, raising $6.5 million in 2017 and $5 million in 2019. It also opened an office in Washington, D.C. in 2019 and was named a Tampa Bay Inno Startup to Watch in 2020.

The news follows a fellow Tampa tech firm that announced a partnership with publicly traded company Ribbon Communications (NASDAQ: RBBN).
